Research Interests
My research is in the areas of chemical reaction engineering and polymer
materials as well as catalysis techniques with special emphases currently
on
- syntheses of nano-structured polymers/catalysts, aiming at applications
to chemical/biomedical engineering, fuel cells, membrane reactors, and
solar energy batteries, etc.
-
chemical modification of polymers, such as diene-based and styrene-based polymers
- "green" catalysts and catalysis techniques, especially for supercritical fluid involved reaction operations, aiming at applications to medical and food areas
- supercritical fluid-assisted reactions/separations, aiming at developing practical "green" technologies for polymeric, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical processes
- reaction engineering problems, including reaction kinetics and catalytic mechanism discrimination, transport phenomena (rheological behaviour, flow, mass transfer, heat transfer, mixing), advanced reactors/devolatilizers, and scale-up/down of chemical processes
